Local Contribution
GCW has lasting relationships within the local community. One way GCW contributes is by donating left over framing material, such as wood beams, to a pioneer group for use of firewood during thier camp-outs. This helps reduce the amount of waste going into landfills and is an opportunity to give back to the community.
Green Building
With growing awareness of the effects human activities can have on the global environment, people are becoming more interested in using green building techniques. These techniques focus on a few key concepts: using energy-efficient equipment and design, using sustainable materials, reducing impact on the environment and human health, and managing water resources.
Heating and cooling interior spaces can account for 50 percent of a home's energy use. We do not let that energy go to waste through poor insulation. Instead, GCW stops drafts with spray foam insulation. This seals to the surfaces in walls and attics and prevents air gaps. GCW also builds exterior walls with a minimum of 6-inch-wide studs instead of the traditional 4-inch studs to provide better insulation. High-efficiency, Energy Star-rated low-E windows are used. All gaps around windows, doors, ductwork and chases are efficiently caulked. All HVAC systems are tested for leaks and a whole home pressure test is done by third party inspectors.
GCW uses high-efficiency mechanical and electrical equipment. All equipment is a Blue Energy Star labeled equipment that has been deemed energy-efficient by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. GCW uses Energy Star equipment for heating and cooling systems, water heaters, appliances and light fixtures.
Commitment
As we all know, upkeep and repairs can be a daunting task with the level of sophistication and detail of a GCW home. Many of the products and subcontractors GCW uses offer factory and extended warranties. For the original owner of the home, GCW is available to handle any occurrence. GCW encourages all of their clients to contact them directly for any warranty issues or repairs.
